  • How to find a Thanksgiving Carpool.

Now that the holidays are approaching many people are looking for ways to save gas when visiting friends and family. Here at RideSearch we offer our own Holidays Rideshare forum. Basically visit the forum and post your carpool request. Then check back regularly to see if anyone has responded. Also, you may be getting an email from someone who wants to ride with you.

In this economy, with gas prices the way the are it is important for all of us to help each other out. That it the spirit of giving. Even if you already are planning on taking your car to somewhere else this holiday season, post your ride here. Let others, who may be less fortunate, ride with you. You may make a friend and help out your fellow man.

  • Latest Changes

I want to let the carpool community know RideSearch development is still ongoing. Our latest changes are in response to some of your suggestions. And like always we really do take all suggestions seriously. The first one is the mapping system. We have decided to use Google MAPs to make your profiles look even better. Anyone who fills out their profile has a much higher chance of finding a match. With Google MAPs we will eventually be able to add our carpooling service to Europe. I am excited about this opportunity.

Also, we have now condensed our forums into smaller section of forums to make it easily navigatable and searchable:

    1. General Discussion - Here you can talk about anything
    2. Holidays Rideshare Forum - Here you can post trip requests for holiday travel like for the Fourth of July or Thanksgiving.
    3. Daily Rides - In addition to find rides via your profile you can now post daily rides requests to this forum.
    4. Long Distance Trips - Many people would like to make a long distance carpool. Post your request here.
    5. Sporting/Concert Events - With higher parking lot prices this new forum will help people find a ride to the latest sports arena or concert venue.

None of the older posts have been deleted. They have just been moved from the old state/city forums to either the Daily Rides forum or the Long Distance forum. Thanks for using RideSearch.com. Together we can make this the best carpool matching website on the net.

  • RideSearch.com is a Year Old!

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of RideSearch.com. It has been quite an amazing year. This last year we saw over 9,000 people join. We saw more than 75,000 visitors. I am amazed at the press we have gotten with ABC's Good Morning America Carpool Challenge, the Associated Press including us in the top carpool sites and Women's Health Magazine listing us as one of the 100 best websites. The most amazing thing to me is that people have found carpools using RideSearch.com. They are saving on gas and saving the planet. It is the members that make this a good carpool site. In this next year you will see some major transformations. I have listened to your suggestions and am working on continuing to make this the best carpool site on the Internet. So stay tuned and keep searching. The best is yet to come! Sincerely, Brian Bass Creator of RideSearch.com
  • New Idea: Carpool to the voting booths

With today's gas prices and people just not wanting to ride anywhere the idea of carpooling to the voting booths is a good one. Use RideSearch.com to find others to carpool with on Election Day. Just put a post in our forums with your district number and what intersection you are coming from and see if you can hook up. Voting is something all Americans should do. Let your voice be heard.

    Good Morning America Carpool Challenge

RideSearch was thrilled to be a part of the GMA Carpool Challenge. This challenge took place at the end of July and followed different teams of co-workers around the country to see what it was like to carpool. Our popular Gas Savings Calculator was mentioned.  In the end GMA asked out of the 20 people who did carpool who would continue carpooling and 16 people said they would. Many people realized that carpooling was great for their wallets and for the environment. They realized that carpooling is a win-win situation. You can see what kind of experiences the carpoolers had by visiting our Good Morning America page.

  • June 26, 2008 - The Release of RideSearch 2.0

RideSearch.com today announced the launch of a new version of their free nationwide carpool matching website, RideSearch 2.0, and the launch of RideSearch for Businesses (ridesearch.biz). The services promise to increase communication among all commuters and employers, helping carpoolers save money on gasoline and helping them stop global warming by reducing carbon dioxide emissions from daily commuting.

"The new version of RideSearch promises to revolutionize the way Americans think about carpooling. Our customized forums allow commuters to meet up to go to the airport, school, vacations, concerts, football games, church, and movies and work," says Brian Bass, CEO of RideSearch.com. "I am excited about this site. I believe it will change the way we all think about carpooling and ridesharing. With gas prices at an all time high and the green movement in full swing the time is now for our social networks to start making a difference in the real world. "

Our companion site, RideSearch.biz, offers advertising opportunities on RideSearch.com. From local ads on a per city basis to nationwide tower ads there is an advertisement for any sized company. RideSearch thanks Southwest Airlines and Blockbuster for bringing awareness to their employees about RideSearch.com.

“I think we, as a nation, have reached a point where alternatives to driving are a necessity. As families get squeezed by higher inflation the need to offset this with conservation is now evident. The best way to conserve gas is to share the price with someone else. People are now deciding to get past their prior reservations about carpooling and RideSearch.com 2.0 will help them find someone they can ride with anywhere and anytime to any event imaginable.”

I hope you enjoy the new and improved RideSearch.com, and keep carpooling for a better tomorrow!

    Sincerely,
    Brian Bass
